The IQPlus concept was borne out of the need to assist parents and guardians in raising pupils using an approach that is anchored on developing the total child. We work to deliver value beyond intellectual development of the child. This is done through enabling our children to imbibe principles during their formative years that will spur them to hard work and excellent conduct while pursuing their best with confidence and the fear of God.

With challenges of governing Nigeria’s huge and fast growing population, governments at the Federal, State, and Local levels have continued to find it difficult to meet the needs of capital, human resources and infrastructure to provide qualitative education at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels for the citizens. The inability of the public sector, therefore, to satisfy the demands for qualitative education has continued to provide opportunities for visionary private schools that have the wherewithal to help bridge the gap. IQPlus School, founded in 2004, is one of the private sector initiatives to respond to the yearnings of parents who desire top-of-the class performing educational institution especially at the foundational level.

Background

IQPlus School at its founding was initially called Shalom IQPlus. The founding of IQPlus coincided with the surge in the need for day-care centres and after-school support services in the busy commercial centre of Nigeria. Our first day-care centre opened up at the peaceful community of Aguda, Surulere and was uniquely captioned, ‘A home away from home’. We entered the day-care niche with a three- pronged unique selling point namely: comfort, experienced nannies and timely updates to parents throughout the day.

Not too long after our day-care services were up and thriving, we explored having summer tutorials for primary school and secondary school kids. The results were remarkable and the visible improvement that marked the children’s’ performances spurred parents to request that we launch our Primary School.
